Growing into independence, while dreaming of giving others a chance
Kato Allan is one of the young people who has grown up as part of the Chances for Children family and is now beginning to find his own way in the world.
Kato is the brother of Wasswa, and like his brother, he is a hard-working young man who is beginning to experience life beyond C4C. He is not afraid to try different things, learn new skills and work with his hands.
Kato has a particular love for farming. At the moment, he is doing an apprenticeship at a chicken poultry farm, gaining practical experience and learning more about an area that he is passionate about. He enjoys trying different kinds of work and discovering what he can do.
But what makes Kato’s story especially meaningful is that, even as he starts building his own life, he has not forgotten where he came from.
Whenever he has free time, Kato returns to the centre. He enjoys spending time with the younger children and helping wherever he can. He has a natural desire to encourage and support those who are coming behind him.
We are incredibly grateful to Kato’s sponsors, who supported him from the time he was a young boy and helped him reach this stage of his journey.
Kato is taking his next steps—but he is taking C4C with him.
He is learning to work, discovering his passion for farming, building independence and thinking about how he can make a difference to others.
His story is a beautiful reminder that when we give a child a chance, we may also be helping create someone who will one day give that chance to another child.
Kato’s journey is still unfolding, but his heart for others is already making a difference.
