A new chapter, a new skill and a future full of promise
Safina Swabur is beginning a new chapter in her life.
After growing up with the support of Chances for Children Foundation, Safina completed her secondary education last year. We are deeply grateful to her sponsors, who has walked alongside her since she was a young girl and helped her reach this important stage in her life.
This year, Safina has taken her first steps towards building a life and career of her own. She is now studying Tailoring, developing a practical skill that can give her the opportunity to earn a living and become independent in the future.
Safina’s education is being supported through a partnership of opportunities. The Government of Uganda is supporting half of her training, while the other half is being supported by Baraka Performers, the dance group where Safina shares her talents as a dancer.
Her journey to college is not always easy. Safina travels every day to attend her course, and Daddy Martin makes sure she has the transport she needs to get there, as well as a snack to keep her going through the day.
These may seem like small things, but for a young person starting out on their own, they make a meaningful difference.
Safina is focused, talented and determined to keep winning. We are excited to watch Safina grow from a young girl who was once supported by others into a young woman who is learning to create opportunities for herself.
Her journey is only beginning.
Safina’s story is a reminder that sponsorship is not simply about getting a child through school. It is about walking with them long enough to reach the point where they can begin to stand on their own.
From a young girl supported by her sponsor, to a secondary school graduate, to a talented dancer and now a tailoring student—Safina is stepping confidently into her future.
