From a child supported by Chances for Children to a young woman building her own future
Winnie is a wonderful example of what can happen when a child is given the opportunity, encouragement and support they need to thrive.
Having grown up with the support of Chances for Children Foundation, Winnie has become the eldest young lady in the C4C family to graduate from college. She studied Cosmetology, developing skills that have not only given her an education, but have also helped her build a future of independence and purpose.
Alongside her studies, Winnie started her own beauty business. Her determination to work, study and build something for herself is a testament to her resilience and ambition. Today, she lives in Kampala, where she continues to grow her business and pursue her dreams.
But Winnie’s story is about more than her own success.
At weekends, she returns home to support Martin and the team in running the centre. She has become a much-loved presence among the younger girls, often taking on the role of a “mother hen”—looking out for them, encouraging them and being someone they can turn to.
Winnie has moved from being a young girl receiving support to becoming a young woman who gives support to others. Her journey shows the lasting impact that care, education and opportunity can have on a child’s life.
Winnie’s story is a testimony to the power of giving children a chance.
She is not simply a graduate. She is a business owner, a role model, a mentor to younger girls and a reminder that a child’s circumstances today do not have to determine their future.
